Loon's Nest

You can enjoy awesome sunset views of GREAT POND from the porch of this upscale cottage. This 3 bedroom, 2 bath cottage has all the comforts of home. On the main floor is the kitchen, living area, bedroom with 2 twins and bath with laundry area. Upstairs is the master bedroom with king bed and futon that converts to a double bed, bath with tub/shower, bedroom with 2 twins. Fully equipped kitchen with microwave, dishwasher, granite countertops, washer & dryer, a/c in master bedroom, cable TV. Outside amenities include dock, picnic table, firepit, charcoal grill. Shallow swimming area, great for the kids! The cottage is located in Hatch Cove with neighbors nearby.

  We have been coming to Great Pond for many years. This is one of the best rentals we have had. Clean, roomy, great location, nice beds, stocked kitchen and great Wi-Fi. There is well water which is a big plus. It had a strange smell but was safe for use. We have had much worse when it comes to the water. If you are sensitive, get some bottles of water. The agent offered us bottled water but we just bought a gallon on our own.

  Loon's Nest was a great getaway on Great Pond. The cottage is pretty true to the pictures and description; spacious, clean, and directly on the water! Many have mentioned the initial shock to neighbors sharing the side yard - all it is that, initial shock that there's a massive year-round home on the property, but we they're very private and it didn't impact our stay in the least. I wouldn't hesitate to return to Loon's Nest again in the future - thank you Barbara!

  2 of us + our 2 dobies enjoyed our stay so very, very much that I booked already the place for next year. Thecabin is spacious, open space lower level with fabulous views, kitchen equipped well above expectations, plenty of storage/closet space, a/c in master BR was appreciated on 2 out of 7 nights. The issue of hot water was addressed very promptly after we reported it. The view and the crystal clear water - fantastic. peaceful - only loons and owls? were talking...rocky access and rocky floor of the lake were somewhat discouraging for the dogs. king bed a little soggy and chairs could be updated, but this is just all minor. one can sense high level of thoughtfulness in providing many little comforts ( wi fi, batteries and other gadgets which we did not have to use, but someone gave it the thought should you need it). We loved it had the best and most relaxing time in quite a while. THANK. YOU !!!

  We had a wonderful week here in early June, although the weather was a little unsettled at first. The house is well stocked with everything you might need. Heat and hot water included and worked well. Beautifully clean when we arrived. Plenty of blankets and pillows. We had a wonderful stay including some spectacular sunsets. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

  Very nice cabin if you are looking to do any boating you are going to have problems. The dock is not set up for a power boat meaning you must moore the boat 30 yards out and swim to it. Likewise there is no real beach to land scamper kayak. The air conditioning in bedroom is a godsend because contrary to popular belief Maine can get HOT in the summer.     This response is from the owners. Thank you for your comments. We are glad you appreciated the air conditioner. In regards to the mooring, you are correct, our dock is not meant to be used for long term tie up for boats. It is aluminum and isn't heavy enough to use for tie ups. However, we do provide the mooring about 40 feet off shore for boats.

  My family and I spent several summers staying at a private camp on Great Pond back in the 80's and early 90's, and we were very excited to be able to vacation at the lake again. We enjoyed the Octoberfest at Belgrade Lakes, the boys fished, and we had a general good time in the area. Loon's Nest is a delightful place--we really enjoyed being right at lake's edge. My 2-year-old granddaughter even went in the water, even though it was a little cold for her in early October. Thanks, Barbara, for your guidance in finding a place that would really suit us. I will add one suggestion, though: the mattress on the kingsized bed in the master bedroom should be replaced. It's very soft and occupants roll to the middle! My son and pregnant daughter-in-law ended up sleeping on the futon in that room instead of in the bed.
